Caravanning at the Commonwealth Games

Ticket sales are through the roof, but it appears that a large proportion of those who have pre-booked have failed to prepare travel and accommodation for when they arrive. News from the Games’ organisers indicates that up to half of the one million ticket holders still need to finalise or make plans for travel to their events.

With hotels and hostels bursting and the weather scorching, many might consider camping as an ideal low-cost option. In order for spectators to get an idea of where to find campsites near to the Game’s venues we’ve put together an interactive map:

All campsites featured in the map are no more than an hour away from the venues and have good public transport links.
Although all campsites featured have prepared for the influx of people headed for the Commonwealth Games, some companies have even set up a number of temporary sites specifically for those going to see the games.

For those who want to go but haven’t yet bought ticket they are still being sold here: https://tickets.glasgow2014.com/. As of 25th July, the best availability was for day Two of the Games, where most of the available tickets are £15. It seems those who book on the day of an event are more likely to get tickets.
