The temperature has dropped, Christmas lights are out on every high street, and another devastating John Lewis advert has been released, which can only mean one thing: it’s time to start Christmas shopping!
Although it’s still only November, the smart shoppers out there will be already getting inspired, beating the crowds and purchasing their presents. Therefore for the caravan enthusiasts amongst us (perhaps spending the holidays in a caravan) we at Cosford Caravans have put together a list of the most popular presents to get your loved ones this Christmas. There’s something for everyone, whatever your budget:
The Christmas Caravan by Jennifer Beck
This is the children’s book to buy for your caravanning kids this Christmas. It tells the story of Simon who lives in a rundown caravan park with his mother. One Christmas he decides to enter a local competition for the best decorated house, but because he lives in a caravan the judges never turn up to see his hard work.
Simon’s mum phones the Mayor to let them know of his disappointment and the Mayor comes to visit the caravan site and see his decorations. Although the main prize has already been awarded, Simon receives a special reward from the Mayor – one that will change him and his mother’s life forever.
This is a beautiful story about the value of dreams and the importance of community and can be purchased from the publisher, Scholastic New Zealand, for $19.95.
The Caravan Bird Box
This cute eco-friendly, caravan-shaped bird box is the perfect way to share your love of caravanning with the natural world. Each box is handmade and personalised, so be sure to order early as delivery can take up to 20-24 days. If you do get organised though, this gift could make a very unique accessory for either the garden or caravan park. It cost £59 and delivery is free within the UK.
The Pitch Pal
The Pitch Pal is a great practical stocking filler and means you’ll never have to wake up in the morning with the sun burning your eyes. If you arrive at the campsite at night or during low visibility this device will show you where the sun will be at any time of day in relation to the available pitches. This means you can always pitch your caravan or motorhome to face your preferred sun.
If you’re going Christmas caravanning then maybe let the recipient open this one a bit early, that way on Christmas morning you’ll have the best view possible!
Magic Colour-Changing Fire Flames
If you want to feel like you’re in Lapland this Christmas then get some of these mystical colourful fire flames: they can be used on indoor or outdoor fires and will make your camp look like the Northern Lights!
‘A Caravan is For Life’ stocking fillers
You can find a number of great Christmas gift ideas at Caravan Gifts, but the best is probably their range of clothes and crockery which has the slogan ‘A Caravan Is For Life Not Just For Christmas’. There are hats, mugs, bags, T-shirts and hoodies that come in a range of sizes and colours, and all for around £10-£25. A great stocking filler!
Practical Caravan Courses
If you fancy helping a loved one become more confident towing on the road (or simply you want to feel a lot safer in the passenger seat) then look into giving them a towing and manoeuvring course.
The Caravan Club offer a range of training courses including 10 hours of Practical Caravanning for £155, which covers loading, hitching up and towing safely, practice in manoeuvring and everyday safety checks. They also offer a one-day Caravan Manoeuvring course for more experienced caravanners, which costs £135. This course helps them to hone their skills and increase their confidence, with particular attention given to reversing and turning.
Caravan Crazy Slimline Calendar 2015
Jazz up your interior caravan décor next year with this goofy cartoon slimline calendar, only £1.49.
The Caravan Cookbook by Monica Rivron
The Rivron’s are a family of caravanners: Rowland, the television presenter, being the most widely known. His wife Monica Rivron has written The Caravan Cookbook: An Inspirational Guide to Family Cooking to inspire all the other caravanning culinary enthusiasts that cooking without a pantry or kitchen can still be simple and fun.
The book is packed full of ideas for picnics, snacks, main dishes and rainy day baking. The recipes also make use of the fresh produce that you are expected to buy at local markets: an integral part of any caravanning holiday.
Tickets to a Show
If the stockings are already stuffed full then give a loved one something to look forward to in the New Year: tickets to an early-year caravan show. The Caravans and Motorhome Show in Manchester is the North’s biggest outdoor leisure show and takes place from 15th-18th January. If that’s too early then you can always book the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show 2015 in Birmingham, which is the UK’s biggest start-of-season showcase of all the latest models and new outdoor stock.
The Caravan Clock
This stylish retro clock is the perfect wall addition for your caravan or home. Carefully constructed from chrome tin, it comes in four different vintage colours, all hand painted. If you get it for a family member for Christmas you could use it to count down into the New Year!
It’s designed by Ian Blackwell, who also makes a beautiful retro trinket box made from rimu veneer – another great gift idea for Dad.
